CPU Requirements

This topic describes the CPU requirements for versions of SIMetrix and SIMetrix/SIMPLIS. For general system requirements, visit System Requirements

Version 8.3 and earlier

SIMetrix/SIMPLIS 8.3 and earlier will run on any system which uses a CPU that supports the SSE2 instruction set. In practice any system built after about 2005 is likely to meet this requirement.

Version 8.4 to 9.0

SIMetrix/SIMPLIS version 8.4 to 9.0 require a 64bit CPU and OS

Version 9.1 and Later

Versions 9.1 and later require a CPU with the specification described below. AMD, Intel Core and Intel Xeon CPUs manufactured after June 2015 will meet this specification and most manufactured from around 2014 are likely to meet this specification.

Either:

  • 4th Generation or later Intel Core i3, i5, i7 or i9 (Haswell microarchitecture or later)
  • Intel Xeon E3, E5, E7 v3 or any later Xeon model (Haswell microarchitecture or later)
  • AMD processor using the Piledriver microarchitecture or later
